a very merriest of Christmases and holiday seasons to you! we’d like to celebrate FRESHmas with you here, with a special short issue - thank you for being here with us! let’s dig in:
FRESH: live sets
Brownies & Lemonade have pulled out the stops for a very special Christmas present for all - a set of ten, 10 minute mini-mixes by some of the most influential artists in the last ten years of electronic music! making my way through it as we speak, lots of fun in there.
FRESH: cuisine
usually i keep my recipes very close to my chest, as i create many from scratch myself and tweak them to perfection over time. as a special FRESH present, here are two recent recipes of my own, that are ‘reloaded’ versions of classic cuisines, with an extra hit of wing magic.
English Muffins, Reloaded
i have fond childhood memories of English muffins with grape jam as part of a breakfast set that McDonalds serves here. somewhere in between then and now, they fell off my taste palette, until earlier this year when an Airbnb i was staying at had the fridge stocked full of bags and bags of English muffins.
when i got back home, i started experimenting with possible alternate fillings, and magically stumbled on this glorious combo.
The FRESH Reloaded English Muffin Recipe
ingredients:
1 english muffin
1 slice of cheese of your choice (i’m partial to Swiss for this recipe)
1 pack of ramen (or leftover noodles)
directions:
cook the ramen according to instructions and drain the noodles, season with sauces of your choice (skip this step if you have leftovers)
slice the muffin in half
place the slice of cheese on one half
carefully pack the ramen on the other half, making sure it doesn’t overflow
place both halves face up in the oven or toaster oven, set to ~200 degrees C for approx. 8 minutes
when the cheese starts to melt (after around 4 minutes), place the cheese half on top of the ramen half, press down lightly and continue to toast
carefully take out of the oven, wrap in a paper napkin and enjoy hot!
Morning Coffee, Reloaded
this recipe has gone through many iterations before its final golden form here - i do believe this is the closest i’ll get to a heavenly brewed cup in my book. recently, i found this Twix seasoning powder - it’s been an extra kick of flavor that i really love.
The FRESH Reloaded Morning Coffee Recipe
ingredients:
1 fresh kettle of water
1 tablespoon instant coffee mix, preferably strong and with added mushroom powder (i’ve been drinking this one of late)
1 scoop vegan protein powder, preferably caramel or vanilla flavored (this one is my favorite, unfortunately it’s not shipping to HK at the moment and i’ve run out, so i’m making do)
1 tablespoon ginger powder (decrease to 1 teaspoon if you are sensitive to spice)
1 tablespoon pumpkin spice seasoning powder
(optional) 1 tablespoon cocoa or instant chocolate of your choice
a sprinkling of cinnamon powder
directions:
put the kettle on boil, allow it to do its thing while prepping the rest of the ingredients
add the ingredients into the mug in this order: coffee mix, protein powder, ginger, pumpkin spice, chocolate, cinnamon (if you prefer chaos, add ingredients in whatever order you desire)
when the water is boiled, fill the mug slowly
carefully stir the mixture clockwise with a wooden spoon, until all blended together
inhale the smell of fresh coffee, mentally recite an affirmation for the day whilst holding your mug, and consume hot!
let me know if you give these recipes a spin! happy caroling, frolicking, feasting, resting… whatever else you’re up to this holiday!
love and all lovely things,
wing

Like Brad, the Twix Shakers stopped me in my tracks. As someone whose new year’s resolution (one of them) is to cut back on sugar, I’m using all my power not to order the shakers online as Twix have always been a weakness. Happy new year and read you in 2023!
What a fun Christmas surprise! I'd never seen that Twix Shakers before--I wonder if that's even available in the US! I don't think I'd trust myself with it, anyway. I'd probably open it up, and just pour it down my gullet! Very cool, wing, and thanks.......Merry Christmas!🎄
