issue 21 - am i dreaming?
coming of legal age, standout new releases, lots and lots of announcements, a fitness update and more
some housekeeping updates first! we’ve got some exciting things lined up ahead this year, and would love to have your input about the format of GUESTFRESH, our guest writer section. so far they’ve been published as a section in-issue with a combination of regular recommendations from myself and guest ones within the issue, but would you like to read them as individual separate posts instead? sound off below:
FRESH: new music
Am I Dreaming? - Kasablanca
one of Kasablanca’s most anticipated unreleased tracks is finally out in the wild! the ID was teased by the duo at their EDC performance last June, and more recently at ABGT500 by none other than Above & Beyond. Am I Dreaming? is an ethereal, larger-than-life banger that makes for a standout track, even amongst the rest of Kasablanca’s excellent discography to date.
Kasablanca just got announced as one of the supporting acts for Above & Beyond, for both their show nights at Printworks this coming April! thrilled to see them for the first time in such a perfect venue for their dramatic live set.
Brave - DJ Sabrina The Teenage DJ
every DJSTTDJ track has a little magic in it, but this one feels like the whole spell book got added to it! Brave is here to channel all your get-hyped-for-summer energy - the track smells like four minutes of sunshine, charisma and sea salt in your hair. it also pairs perfectly with this throwback groove from Madeon, and was practically made for this playlist.
FRESH: events and happenings
lots has been going on this week, let’s recap:
Everything Everywhere All At Once has received a whopping 11 Academy Award nominations!! it’s a big and long-due step for Asian representation in film and at the Oscars, including Michelle Yeoh’s Best Actress nomination making history as the first Asian-identifying woman to be nominated in the category! we’ll be not-so-patiently waiting for the fanfare of March 12th.
the Creamfields Hong Kong lineup was announced, with a very special appearance from Above & Beyond - their first in five years since ABGT300 in 2018! will i be seeing any of you there?
Printworks has announced another stellar addition of shows in April as part of its closing S/S 2023 season: featuring Jamie xx, Bonobo and Dusky amongst many other local London talents.
Thomas Bangalter (half of Daft Punk) has announced his first solo album in two decades, an orchestral score titled Mythologies.
more exciting new album announcements from Anjunadeep: both Simon Doty and P.O.S. (Paavo of Above & Beyond) will be releasing their debut albums on the label later this year! Doty’s Universal Language will be arriving April 28, and P.O.S.’ Deeper Tales has yet to announce a release date.
G Jones is playing two special shows in a cave.
the Tomorrowland Belgium 2023 lineup has been announced - get your reading glasses or 20/20 vision ready for this poster:
FRESH: fitness
doing this workout challenged my physical limits this week, but completing it was worth the reward of breaking any mental barriers i had about what i was capable of. don’t miss the bonus pep talk at the end, especially if you need an energy boost to continue being consistent with your new year’s goals and changes. (if you don’t have dumbbells handy, use any large bottled water you have around!)
keeping it on the shorter side for today - don’t forget to take some time for yourself this week to recharge your batteries.
love in all languages,

This year's Oscars def has a lot of nominations for big movies and I've seen almost everything too! Rooting for EEAAO as we've discussed as well as Angela Bassett, The Batman and All Quiet on the Western Front.
I'm def interested in checking out Thomas Bangalter's album based on the fact it's an orchestral score. SAULT dropped two projects (Air and Aiir) like that and I love them! I like movie scores in general lol.
Rooting for you in your fitness journey!
